About Us
On one of Cihangir’s narrow streets, the small but persistent stage of a cooperative that brings independent theatres together.
Tatavla Sahne lives as part of the Theatre Cooperative, which brings Istanbul’s independent theatre stages together.
Without imposing a single management or a single aesthetic, the cooperative builds a model of solidarity in which every company can create under the same roof while keeping its own voice. Tatavla Sahne is a small but persistent stage of this model.
Our stage carries on a kind of theatre that is faithful to the text, gives actors room and keeps no distance from its audience.
Every play begins with the text. We read it closely and bring the words to the stage without embellishment.
We are a company that puts the actor’s work and creativity at the centre and makes decisions together.
In our 70-seat auditorium, the audience sits a breath away from the play.
